Day 1 title: Arrival Hanoi, Hanoi city tour half day

Day 1 description:

Welcome to Hanoi!

Note: Please print “Visa on arrival approval letter” (provided by TiiM) and prepare 25 USD cash and a passport photo if you are planning on getting Vietnam visa on arrival.

Our local guide will meet you at the airport, holding a welcome sign on which your name is written. Then the guide and driver will transfer you to the hotel in the city center and help you with the check-in procedure. On the way from the airport to the hotel, the guide will provide you some information on Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam.

In the afternoon, start on cyclo tour to experience at the Old Quarter, along beautiful tree-lined boulevards until we get to Ba Dinh Square, site of the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and where Ho Chi Minh first declared independence from French rule in 1945. Visit the humble house on stilts. Continue on to the intriguing Ho Chi Minh Museum, an amazingly surreal exhibition of the life of Ho Chi Minh. We’ll also view the Presidential Palace and One Pillar Pagoda. Finish your day with a relaxing walk around Ha Noi famous Hoan Kiem Lake. Return to your hotel.

Day 2 title: Hanoi to Halong Bay for overnight cruise

Day 2 description:

Meet and greet at your hotel at 7.00am for the journey east (approximately 170km or 4 hours) to Hon Gai, the gateway to amazing Halong Bay. Considered Vietnam's greatest natural wonder, Halong Bay boasts over 3,000 islands that rise out of the sea to provide a spectacular natural environment. En route enjoy the captivating rural scenery and see fields of busy workers farming their rice fields using traditional methods of cultivation. At 11:30am, you will board your luxurious junk and set sail through the bay whilst lunch is served. Spend the afternoon cruising the bay with stops to explore fascinating caves, a floating fishing village and to enjoy a swim in the warmer months. Indulge in sunset cocktails on deck before a scrumptious buffet dinner is served.

Day 3 title: Halong Bay to Hanoi, overnight train to Lao Cai

Day 3 overnight: King Train Hà Nội - Lào Cai oneway 4 berth cabin

Day 3 description: Start the day with a Tai Chi class on the sundeck or a traditional massage. Visit an island to enjoy panorama view of Ha Long Bay, relax and swim at the beach. Pass by a fishing village. After exploring a lofty grotto hidden beneath towering cliffs, we sail back to port. Disembark and travel back to Hanoi.

You will be transferred to a day-use hotel for taking shower and short break.

Transfer to station for overnight train to Lao Cai, departure around 21:00pm.


Day 4 title: Lao Cai, Sapa, trek to Lao Chai and Ta Van

Day 4 description:

On arrival at Lao Cai train station you will be met for the 35 km drive up to Sapa, passing spectacular mountain scenery to finally reach this charming town, set amongst the highest and most beautiful mountains in Vietnam. After breakfast on arrival, we drive the short distance south towards Muong Hoa Valley, and then descend by foot through the largest terraced rice paddy area in the Sapa region. Our walk takes us through the village of Lao Chai, home to the Black Hmong minority, then onto the village of Ta Van village, inhabited by the Giay minority. We have a great opportunity to observe the daily life and traditional hospitality of these people before returning to Sapa in time for a late lunch. The afternoon is free to relax or wander into town to explore the local life.

Note: Today breakfast will be serviced at local restaurant, not at hotel.


Day 5 title: Minority market, overnight train to Hanoi

Day 5 overnight: King Train Lào Cai - Hà Nội oneway 4 berth cabin

Day 5 description:

Meet and greet at your hotel at 7.30am for a trip to visit a local market: Ban Cam on Tuesday, Cao Son on Wednesday, Lung Khau Nhin on Thursday, Can Cau on Saturday, Bac Ha on Sunday. Here you’ll see mostly Flower Hmong however Phu La, Black Dao, Tay, Nung hill tribe groups also gather here. The market offers a variety of local products, which could not be found in others areas such as an interesting animal market where pot-bellied pigs, cows and buffalos can be seen. Continue your tour to have a short walk to a hill-tribe village. Here you’ll have the opportunity to visit some local homes to understand more on the daily life of these tribes as well as their culture and traditions.

We drive downhill towards Lao Cai to come to the train station for the overnight train back to Hanoi.

Day 6 title: Arrival Hanoi, departure Hanoi

Day 6 description:

On arrival at Hanoi Railway Station early this morning you will be met and transferred to your hotel with some hours day use for breakfast and short break.

You will be picked up to transfer to Hanoi airport for your onwards journey.
