Next head to Trang An, an area that is often referred to as “Halong Bay on land” and explore the stunningly statuesque geological formations that dot the landscape.
Meet and greet at your hotel at 8.00am. Start on the 90km (approximately 2.5 hour journey) south to Hoa Lu, the ancient capital of Vietnam dating back to the 10th century. Visit the famous sanctuary of Dinh Tien Hoang, a former emperor of the Dinh Dynasty, and the temple dedicated to the Le Emperor.
After lunch in a local restaurant you will continue to nearby Trang An, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its outstanding natural beauty and the scenic karst formations which contribute to its reputation as being the “Halong Bay on land.” Board a small boat and meander lazily down the peaceful river while passing through a series of caves. While enjoying the sounds of soaring birds overhead and paddling along the crystal-clear waters of the river, jagged limestone hills jutting skyward out of electric green rice paddies will be sure to bring out the photographer in you.
Finally, return to the pier, where your vehicle will be waiting for you, and arrive back in Hanoi in the late afternoon. Return to your hotel at about 5.00pm.
