— Vietnam on Wednesday morning reported the country’s 17th COVID-19-related death, a 55-year-old female patient who died of severe pneumonia due to COVID-19 and a history of type-1 diabetes, end-stage chronic renal failure, septic shock and multiorgan failure, according to the Ministry of Health.
 
— Vietnam’s COVID-19 tally on Wednesday morning reached 866 with three new imported cases that were quarantined right after entering the country. Four-hundred and fifty-one patients are under treatment while 399 have recovered.
 
— The Ministry of Transport has reinstated a suspension of flights from and to the central city of Da Nang, a COVID-19 outbreak epicenter now, from Wednesday to curb the spread of the virus, while requesting the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam to arrange services to help tourists stuck in the city return home.
 
— As of Tuesday morning, Ho Chi Minh City had conducted COVID-19 tests on around 48,000 people returning from Da Nang, with most of the results returning negative. Around 51,000 people coming back from the beach city since July 1 have done health declaration, according to the Ho Chi Minh City Center for Disease Control.
 
 
— Police in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue on Tuesday said they had arrested seven Chinese people for online gambling, with over VND35 billion (US$1.5 million) in transactions involved.

— The International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, announced on Tuesday that it will provide a US$70 million loan to Indo Trans Logistics Corporation (ITL Corp) with the aim of improving logistics, trade and competitiveness in Vietnam’s economy amid the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the Vietnam News Agency.

— The Department of Education and Training in the north-central province of Nghe An has permitted local preschools to reopen from Wednesday after two weeks of closing in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
