— Vietnam on Sunday recorded 80 days without any novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) transmission in the community, according to the National Steering Committee on COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

 

— Some 310 Vietnamese citizens were brought home from Malaysia on Sunday on a Vietnam Airlines flight arranged by Vietnamese agencies, the Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia, and Malaysian authorities.

— Authorities in Quang Nam Province on Sunday proposed the Ministry of Planning and Investment allow private firms to invest in the construction and management of the Chu Lai airport, similar to the development of Van Don International Airport in the northern province of Quang Ninh.

— Close to 2,000 runners from across Vietnam took part in the 61st Tien Phong (Vanguard) Newspaper Marathon, the country’s oldest annual marathon, around Ly Son Island in the central province of Quang Ngai on Sunday, the Vietnam News Agency reported.

 

World news

 

— Japanese military has thanked Vietnam for readily receiving a maritime patrol aircraft, which had to stop in the Southeast Asian country on its way to Japan due to engine trouble, admitting and offering the crew a rest space for two months before the aircraft was able to return to Japan safely on June 29.

 

— The coronavirus has infected over 11.5 million people and killed more than 536,000 patients around the world as of Monday morning, according to the Vietnamese Ministry of Health's statistics. Over 6.5 million people have been cleared of the virus.
