Northwest provinces jointly launch tourism stimulus programme

NDO – The Vietnam Tourism Association (VITA) in association with eight Northwest provinces launched a tourism stimulus programme in Hanoi on June 12 in a bid to promote tourism in the Northwest region.

The launch ceremony saw the participation of more than 150 travel enterprises and representatives from the eight Northwest provinces of Hoa Binh, Son La, Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Phu Tho and Ha Giang.

“Tourism stimulus has really become a strong movement in the tourism sector, promising to produce good results. The northwest provinces are facing lots of difficulties in economic development but the region boasts a rich tourism resource comprising both nature and culture. Tourism development will be the fastest way to spur the development of this region,” said VITA Vice Chairman Vu The Binh at the ceremony.

The tourism stimulus programme in the Northwest region is expected to rapidly revise domestic tourism and help the Northwest provinces stand ready to welcome international tourists after the COVID-19 pandemic.

The programme is also hoped to change the local economic structure with tourism being a new livelihood for ethnic minority groups in Northwest region.

After the launch ceremony, the VITA will hold a survey of tourism products and services in the Northwest region between June 12-16 with the participation of enterprises and media agencies to promote the potential of tourism in the region.
