A new beach resort in Ha Tinh Province’s Nghi Xuan District has 130 guest rooms built out of old shipping containers.
The resort in Xuan Thanh Commune, 50 km from Ha Tinh City, the capital town of the central province, opened in April by tourism company Hong Lam Xuan Thanh.
The rooms are in an area of more than two hectares of casuarina forests grown to protect the coast, with their fronts facing the sea.
The inside of the 15-square-meter containers is covered in plaster, and each has a bathroom. A room costs VND600,000-700,000 ($26.03-30.37) per night.
There are also community rooms with four steel bunk beds targeted at groups of guests.
The rooms are 20-30 m apart and set amid the casuarina trees.
Visitors can order meals at the resort, or have seafood at local restaurants nearby.
"A room is suitable for a couple and a small child," Thanh Huyen, 32, a Ha Tinh local said. "It is a new travel experience to hear the waves lap in the evening and the breeze blowing amid the rows of casuarina trees in an idyllic setting."
The developer also plans to build high-class motels and shopping malls once the pandemic is brought under control.
In the near future visitors to Xuan Thanh Beach will also be able to see dog racing and horse racing.
